Ferrari fined €50,000 for Bahrain F1 pit lane incident

Ferrari has been fined €50,000 by the FIA for the unsafe release ꦇof Kimi Raikkonen’s car following a pit stop during Sunday’s Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix that left a crew member with a broken leg.

Raikkonen retired from the race when in podium contention after hitting the c🀅rew member on the left-rear side of his car, having pulled away from his box before the wheel was aඣttached.

France💯sco Cigarini was taken to hospital where he was found to have suffered a fractured fibula and shinbone.

Raikkonen was given the green light❀ on Ferrari’s traffic light system above his head was on, telling him to go, but that the team is yet to find out how that happened before the left-rear wheel was attached.

Race control confirmed during the 🎃race the incident would be investigated after the race, with the FIA issuing a €50,000 fine to Ferrari.

“The Stewards reviewed the video of the pit stop of Raikkonen at 19:10 and🐽 heard from the team representatives,” the penalty notice reads.

“The Stewards deter𝔍mined that the car was released unsafely in breach of Art. 28.13 a). The team released the 🔯car in a manner endangering team personnel and causing injury.”
