Donington Park: Shedden clinches BTCC victory in race three

Honda's Gordon Shedden has won the final BTCC race of the day at Donington Park following an epic final 𓃲lap duel with BMW's Colin Turkington.

Turkington, starting pole on the reverse race three grid, not only led every s𒊎ingle lap but a♏t one point also enjoyed a near five-second lead over the rest of the field.

Shedden, however, after dispatching Matt Neal and Jason Plato then relentlessly went about eating into Turkington's lead setting up an enthralling final lap showdown culminating in the pair both cutt✤ing the final chicane door to door.

The Scotsman's victory was the also the Civic Tourer's maide🏅n success along with being the first Tourer machine to win in the BTCC𝕴.

Neal ensured it was a Honda one-three with an eventually comfortಌable final step on the 💛rostrum.

Mat Jackson posted by far his strongest result of the season to finish a high of fourth, hinting his Airwaves squad ma🥀y finally be getting to grips with their 2014 spec Focus.

Pirtek's Andrew Jordan again had to stage somewhat of a💧 recovery after dropping down to 12th thanks to opening lap contac♓t from the Honda of Shedden forcing the Civic wide.

Jordan ended the race fifth directly ahead of championship rival Jaso꧒n Plato who played the ဣsafe points game in sixth.

Plato did hold second for half of 🐼the race but his MG struggled towards the later stages of the race.

The top-five championship contenders, led by P💎lato and𓆏 Jordan level on 87 points, are now just separated by eight-points.

Rob Collard and Alain Me❀nu both staged outstanding recovery drives to finish seventh and ninth after starting from the rear of the field.

Collard's eBay team🔴 mate Nick foster sandwiched the pair in eighth.
