An original recovery forecast of 'eight to ten weeks' had been given to Guintoli following the diagnosis of a broken tibia and fibula, caused when he was collected by Josh Brookes during the sighting lap on the way to the grid a🐼t Donington Park.
However, further examination by consultant orth🃏opaedic surgeon Toby Branfoot has revealed another operation will be required tomorrow [Wednesday], with the complicated fractures sug🥃gesting the 'recovery period will be longer than first anticipated'.
Destroying Guintoli's h🐟opes of challenging for the BSB title in his first season, Worx Crescent team owner Paul Denning is devastated by his loss from the team an🔯d the series.
"The events of yesterday are a massive disappointment for everyone involved with the Worx Crescent Suzuki team, as well as a blow for the BSB series as a whole. Risks are always involved, but when your rider is as talented and consistent as Sylvain and then something like this happens - which is totally beyond his control and outside of a racing situation, through the app🅺arent incompetence of another competitor - it's difficult to acce🔥pt.
"I was lucky enough to be at Doningt💟on Park over the weekend and was massively impressed by the team and Sylvain's combined professionalism. His final qualifying performance and that again of the Monday warm-up showed he was looking to achieve a double win, which I believe he would have achieved. Our thoughts are with Sylvain and his family and we will be doing everything we can to help him in his recovery. I can report he is in good spirits, as always.
"Looking forward, while the championship is now beyond us, we are determined to continue to demonstrate what a fantastic bike the Suzuki GSX-R1000K9 is. While our primary thoughts are with Sylvain, we look forward to continuing and building on his impressive early season perform𓆉ances."
