Team owner Larry Perkins made the announcement ahead of this weekend's event at Surfers Paradise that Price would be replaced by his son Jack for the f🅠inal races of the year with the decision taken after the 21-year-old suffered a 'slump in form' and 'failed to turn strong qualifying into race results'.
While it leaves Price, who has now left the team completely, looking for a dꦛrive for 2009, Richards - one of the more experienced drivers in the field -﷽ said it was a ridiculous decision so late in the day.
"Ridiculous, just ridiculous!" the Sprint Gas Racing ace said in his blog on the official V8 Supercar website. "That is my rea🐽ction to Jack Daniels Racing dumping Shan🤪e Price with just four races left in the 2008 season. That goes for any team who cuts a driver with only a few races left in the year, not just JDR.
"I haven't been looking closely at Shane's results but I don't think Todd Kelly has been setting the track alight either and the decision to drop Shane for J🍌ack Perkins is a bit of a mystery to me.
"It actually reminds me a lot of what happened to Jamie Whincup at Garry Rogers Motorsport. He then came to Tasman and now he is a💦t 888 and hasn't looked back. Hopefully Shane can come out of this with similar results.
"I also wish Jack all the best bꦺut I thi✨nk the move is a ridiculous one."
Price lay 23rd in the drivers' standin๊gs ahead of the Gold Coast rac꧟e weekend.
