Workington Comets suffered further injury ♏troubles on Saturday night as popular Australian heat leader Mick Powell crashed out, possibly for the season, with a broken femur and assorted other injuries in the home victory over Arena Essex.

As a heat leader, Powell can be replaced by a guest, but that wil🎉l be little comfort for the Comets. And, if the decision is taken to s🔯ign a replacement, that will still leave the team with a very difficult job, as Powell joins Barry Campbell and Darren Groves on Workington's long term injured list.

The problems did not stop the Comets tra🔯velling down to Newport on Sunday afternoon, however, and the Cumbrian team was duly rewarded with a two point victory which sends them to the top of the Premier League.

In a separate in𝓀cident on Saturday night, Stoke's Jan ꦍStaechmann collected a broken collarbone in their narrow victory over Swindon.
