ꦗCarl Hogan will return to Champcar action in Australia when he runs local talent Jason bright in his debut event.

Hogan Racing has been out of action after its owner closed the doors on a poor 1999 season, but has attracted backing from the Queensland government to run the 27-year old Bright in October's street race down under. A sum of around $300,000 is reputed to have aꦜdded to the Hogan budget as the government attempts kickstart a new marketing campaign by having a native Australian contesting one of the state's top i𝓀nternational sporting events.

Bright, who currently contests the Indy Lights series with Dorricott Racing, will drive a Swift chassis at Surfers' Paradise, thereby helping to bring 𒈔the US man🅠ufacturer back into the series. Swift had been slated to partner Gerry Forsythe's Championship Racing team this season, but split less than amicably three weeks ago.

We're looking at the possibility of running the car out of the Swift facility, said Hogan Racing vice-president Larry Albus. and we're doing this in conjunction with Dorricott, so gettඣin🧸g permission to use Jason was never an issue.

A w𒐪arm-up event for team and driver may yet be negotiated, as will an engine deal.
