Leon Haslam is taking nothing fo💫r granted ahead of the Bennetts British Superbike championship Showdown despite securing a 🔴dominant hat-trick of wins at Silverstone to take a commanding points lead.
The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider heads into the Showdown with a 45-point advantage over neare꧑st rival Jake Dixon, the largest any rider has held going into the top six title fight since the introduction of the three🔥-round finale, and is tipped as strong favourite to seal a maiden title ahead of his return to World Superbikes with the factory Kawasaki squad.
But Haslam says he wi❀ll only focus on a race-by-race approach starting next weekend at Oulton Park.
“It’s not over yet. Last year we had eight DNFs but we still went into the final♕ round with a 30-point lead so I know anything can happen,” Haslam said. “This year has gone really well with no DNFs and the most wins I’ve ever had in a BSB season so I am just concentrating on myself as the team and my Kawasaki are working really well so we’ll take it race-by-race and see what we can do.”
Rating his overall campaign ahead of the BSB Showdown, Haslam accepts he’s in the best position along with two 🎐Showdown rounds💮 hosted by circuits he’s dominated at in recent years.
“So far, so good,” he said. “At Oulton I have a good record with eight out♛ of 11 wins there and we’ve had three out of four wins at Assen ✱in BSB.
“But Brands Hatch I’ve never won at on a Kawasaki so I am hoping we can keep staying on it until Brands. Hꦬopefully we don’t have to go to the final round at Brands wondering and I can have some fun and go for it. But it is BSB and I know it isn’t going to happen like that so right now I am concentrating race-by-race.”
Haslam has been almost flawless over the past three rounds with six wins from the past seven races, with his only miss being fourth place in race t💞wo at Thruxton, while he has no👍t reached the podium in just three races across all 19 BSB races so far this year.
