Speedw♔orks Motorsport's Tom Ingram isn't giving up on his quest to win this season's British Touring Car Championship crown, despite emerging from Silverstone with a 34-poꩲint deficit to Colin Turkington.
Ingram entered the penultimate weekend of the 2018 season 43-points🦩 back from Team BMW's Turkington, but the Toyota Avensis managed to claw back some lost ground after clinching his third win of the year with another sublime charge through the pack from 14th in race two.
Assessing his chances heading to the Brands Hatch season finale, Ingram has sꦓtated it's Turkington's championship to lose, and his to🔥 gain.
"100% [its mission accomplished]. We had to do it the way we did. The way the tyres fell, we 𓂃just had to do that. The pressure is on Colꦰin [Turkington]. We’ve got a bit of a gap to Tom [Chilton] behind," said Ingram.
"We’ve got to go in maximum attack. We have to beat Colin every s♋ingle time we go out on the tra🦋ck at Brands Hatch, just to stand a chance.
"34 points is a big ask. I don’t think it’s been won from 💫that far back… yet. We’re in the best seat possible. We’re the hunter. It’s Colin’s to lose and ours to win. We’re in the best shape. We’ve got the best car."
Having kept his title hopes alive after winning the second race at Silve🦩rstone, Ingram took further points off Turkington in the final race following a feisty exchange between the pair.
The two t෴itle-rivals spent the vast majority of the reverse grid nose-to-tail behind the race winning Mercedes A-Class of Aiden Moffat, with Ingram coming out on top for second after a last-corner attack from Turkington.
"I fully expected Colin to [attack] becauseꩲ he had to beat me and be ahead of us. I’m not going to roll over. I’m going to put up a fight and put up an even bigger fight when we come to Brands Hatch," Ingram continued.
"The fight is on! He’s playing the mind games🧸 as much as I am."
