Pedro Acosta - Route to MotoGP

Reigning Red Bull Rookies champion Pedro Ac🦩osta burst onto the grand prix scene with a stunning debut Moto3 win, in only his second race, despite starting from the pit lane in Qatar!

It was 𒁏the first of six victories that carried Acosta to the Moto3 crown at his ꧟first attempt.

Expectations of a repeat were high as Acosta stuck with Red Bull KTM Ajo for a move to Moto2 in 202ꦅ2. But the intermediate class proved harder to crack, although the youngster still took three wins and fifth in the standings (missing two rounds due to a leg fracture in training).

Acosta learned from his mistakes in 2023, r🍨omping to the Moto2 title with ten race wins, although Fermin Aldeguer's end-of-year run for Speed Up dampened some of the celebrations.

GASGAS Tech3 (2024)

When it became clear that the Moto2 title was within grasp, Acosta signalled his intentions to step up into the premier class in 2024, pr🅰ompting KTM to scramble to find him a space.

Pol Espargaro was eventually convinced to switch to tꦯe🧔st and wild-card duties, creating room for Acosta at GASGAS Tech3.

The 19-year-old proꦉvided KTM with some much-needed highlights in an otherwise disappointing year, headlining the RC16 challenge with nine podiums (GP and Sprints), a pole position and 13 l🥀aps in the race lead.

But a debut victory slipped away as Acosta topped the ♔fallers list with 28 accidents and endured a barren run of five consecutive non-scores.

He also los💖t fifth in the world championship - and top KTM honours - to future factory team-mate Brad Binder on the lasღt lap of the season.
