Valentino Rossi wins the Catalunya MotoGP after winning a close duel with Marc Marquez. The pair shook han♒ds after the race for the first time since last season.

Dani Pedrosa completed the podiu♔m, while Jorge Lorenzo faded from first to fifth and was then taken out b﷽y Andrea Iannone, costing Lorenzo the world championship lead to Marquez.

Loris Baz was absent following foot injuries at Mugello and replaced by Ducati test rider Michele Pirro. Tito Rabat returned to action after fracturing his left collarbone in Italy.
