As planned, the two McL🐭arens appeared with their West logos removed at the start of the Saturday morning practice session in Hungary.

The sidepods now carry the drivers' names instead of the West branding, but in a new typeface clearly designed not to be confused with any attempt at getting a 🧔subliminal marketing message across. However, thus far, there is no sign of Johnnie Walker branding, which will go on the car on Sunday for the first time, following an announcement on Saturday afternoon.

The whisky brand's name will be seen only on the airbox, while its fam🐽ous strolling character will be on th💫e wing endplates. The rear wing remains blank, as it has all year, as the team still requires a title sponsor. Johnnie Walker's budget is far less than that supplied by West.

McLaren's tactics mean that the cars will have appeared in different liveries on all three days of the🌌 meeting, making it hard for photograph🌃ers to pass off practice shots as coming from the race! It also opens up the possibility for model makers to make a special edition of the briefly seen 'Saturday' livery...

West said goodbye to the sport with a low-key party in Budapest on Friday. It was to have been held at the motorhome, bu🅠t was moved downtown after ⛎the death of a team member earlier in the week. The company has already closed down its F1 website.
