F1: Hartley thankful for LMP1 preparation ahead of 'dream' F1 debut

Brendon Hartley feels ready to make his Formula 1 debut in this weekend's United States Grand Prix thanks to the preparation offered by working in Porscꦡhe's LMP1 programme over the past four years.

Seven years after bein😼g dropped from Red Bull's junior driver roster, Hartley was named as Pierre Gasly's surprise replacement for the race in A༒ustin alongside Daniil Kvyat.

Hartley has raced in sportscars with Porsche since 2014, winning the FIA World Endurance Championship drivers﷽' title in 2015 and tඣhis year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the factory programme acting as a good grounding for the New Zealander.

"There’s a lot to learn in ♕one week, but I feel ready for it, honestly," at last weekend's 6 Hours of Fuji.

"This programme has taught me a lot. Working with 𒊎guys like Mark [Webber], T🎶imo [Bernhard], Earl [Bamber], in such a good project where we’re at the forefront of technology and part of development.

“I think I’ve got [a lot of that] as a driver. It’s going to be a busy week for me but I’m really looking forwarᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚd to it.

“It’s happenedꦐ quite quickly. I had quite a bit on my mind over the last week and especially at Petit Le Mans 💟as well.

“It’s an amazing opportunity. It’s going to be a dream come true. I’ve thought about that moment since I was a little kid. I’m glad to represent the WEC. I’m looking fo🀅rward to it.

“I’m going to embrace it and most import𓄧antly I’m going to try and enjoy it.”
